Alstroemeria care

Alstroemeria — the Peruvian lily — is the quiet workhorse of the bouquet: clusters of small, freckled, lily-shaped blooms on a single stem, in a huge range of colours and with a vase life that outlasts almost everything beside it.

How to care for them

Gently pull or trim the leaves from the lower stem — alstroemeria foliage rots quickly underwater and shortens the display. Give each stem a fresh angled cut and stand it in a clean vase of cool water; depth isn’t critical.

Common questions

Often two weeks or more with fresh water and regular trimming — one of the longest-lasting cut flowers we grow.
